Christy is a mixed media artist living and creating from her home studio in Southern California. Her work is rooted and inspired by thoughts, impulse, nature, and life unfolding. Each piece has multiple layers and a great deal of texture.
Says Christy: “Most of the time I create a piece that could be considered finished, but then I push it further and seem to completely destroy it, in a good way. I have grown to thrive in this process and view the ‘mess’ as pure raw beauty. I typically won’t release a piece until it has gone through some sort of destruction and ultimately, a rebirth. Coming to understand this way of painting has allowed me to feel free to express whatever emotion I’m feeling within each layer and to be able to view art as a process, just like life itself.”
Christy chooses to use a variety of media in any given piece including plaster, acrylic, oil, pencil, ink, paper, wax and various mark-making utensils.
